Shakesbear: A nature photographer caught this incredible image of a bear looking like a thespian
Sadly, his audience in the forest consisted only of a few birds, the odd rodent and a man with a camera.
But this mighty black bear seemed to assume full Shakespearean mode as he stretched his front paws apart in apparent preparation for a speech.
The reality behind the pose was, alas, more mundane.
The bear was, in fact, scratching his back on a pine tree to mark it with his scent as he staked out his territory in the Minnesota woodland.
Experts believe a bear leaves its mark as high as possible, to impress potential rivals with his size.
Photographer James Galetto said: ‘This grand pose with his arms outstretched struck me as humorous.’
